Delhi: Heavy rainfall in Delhi and the National Capital Region on Wednesday disrupted both road traffic and flight operations, leading the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport to issue a travel advisory for passengers.
The downpour, accompanied by thunderstorms, has impacted several scheduled arrivals and departures, causing delays and operational challenges.
Multiple airlines, including Air India, IndiGo, and SpiceJet, issued advisories urging travellers to stay informed about their flight status and allow extra travel time to the airport due to waterlogging and traffic congestion in various parts of the city.
Air India advised passengers to check their flight status before heading to the airport via their website and to plan for potential delays. The airline acknowledged that weather conditions were impacting operations and encouraged early arrival at the airport.
IndiGo also issued a similar advisory, stating, “Heavy rain in #Delhi is making the daily drive a little more dramatic - with slow-moving traffic in several areas. If you're on your way to the airport, leaving early could be the difference between a relaxed check-in and a last-minute dash.” IndiGo advised passengers to stay updated using their official website or app.
Meanwhile, IGI Airport and airline crews are working behind the scenes to manage the situation to maintain the smooth operations. Passengers are urged to stay safe, plan, and check for updates before travelling.
