Lucknow: Amidst its month-long 'Sangathan Srijan' campaign spanning all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh, the Congress party expresses optimism about forming a "respectable and appropriate alliance" to challenge the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the 2027 state assembly elections. This sentiment was articulated by Congress General Secretary and UP in-charge, Avinash Pande.

The Congress-Samajwadi Party alliance's strong performance in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, where Congress secured six out of 17 contested seats and the SP won 37, significantly reduced the BJP's tally in the state from 62 to 33.

This outcome appears to underpin Pande's assertion that while the party is focused on re-establishing its grassroots presence statewide, it fully anticipates considering a "respectable and appropriate alliance" under the 'INDIA' bloc for the upcoming state elections.

Pande stated that the party is currently engaged in the 'Sangathan Srijan' drive across all 75 districts and is also preparing for the Panchayat elections in 2026, a year prior to the 2027 assembly polls. During his seven-day tour of the state, Pande is assessing progress and invigorating party workers by meeting with district-level leaders.

He highlighted a 100-day program initiated to bolster these efforts, with trained professionals overseeing implementation, as the Congress targets Panchayat elections to deepen its reach in rural UP.

Referring to the 2022 state assembly elections where both parties contested separately wjere SP increasing its seat count from 47 to 111 while Congress was limited to two, Avinash Pande emphasized the existing 'INDIA' alliance.

"As you know, our alliance as regional parties and a national party has come together to give a strong opposition to the BJP," he stated. "We are strengthening our organization, and because of this, we will come together as a strong alliance."
