Speaker Dr Raman Singh had rejected an adjournment motion over the irregularities in procurement of paddy on support price in the state leads to hue and cry from Congress MLAs and finally resulted into walkout from the House during the assembly proceedings.
Leader of Opposition in Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly Dr Charan Das Mahant, former Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and other Congress MLAs moved the adjournment motion over the irregularities in the procurement of paddy in the state.
While speaking in the support of adjournment motion LOA Dr Mahant alleged that in order to carry out massive corruption in paddy procurement on MSP, the government and its officials procured over 149 lakh metric tonnes of paddy which superseded the Agriculture Department targeted procurement quantity of the paddy. According to the Agriculture Department estimates and records, 110 lakh metric tonnes of paddy can be procured in the state based on actual production of paddy on MSP.
Over procurement indicates, massive corruption took place in the procurement of paddy in the state, he alleged. Due to over procurement of paddy the exchequer had suffered a loss of Rs 8,000 crore, he said.
The Leader of Opposition and the Congress member terming it as big scam demanded in Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly demanded the Chair to allow the detail discussion on the matter. However, Assembly Speaker Dr Raman Singh not agreed with their demands and finally rejected the adjournment motion. After rejection of the adjournment motion, the Congress MLAs staged a walkout of the House.
