Chennai: The monsoon has arrived in Tamil Nadu, and residents are facing a considerable amount of rain. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has a yellow alert in several regions in Tamil Nadu, including Chennai.
Tamil Nadu's capital city woke up at 05: 43 AM and the sun is likely to set at 6: 37 PM. Today, the minimum and maximum temperatures are likely to be around 29 degrees Celsius and 37 degrees Celsius, respectively. The humidity is expected to be around 65 per cent.

The RMC (Regional Meteorological Department) has predicted rainfall to continue over Tamil Nadu. The city may experience thunderstorms and gusty winds of speed reaching 30-40 kmph. Rainfall is likely to be heavy in some districts, including the Western Ghats, until the weekend. The skies are expected to be cloudy, and it will remain the same throughout the day. The rainfall is likely to continue till June 23, 2025.

The Regional Meteorological Department (RMC) has issued rainfall in Chennai, Tiruvallur, Nilgiris, Coimbatore, Tenkasi, Dindigul, Theni, Thoothukudi, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Sivaganga, Chengalpattu, Pudukkottai, Thanjavur, Thiruvarur, Nagapattinam, Ramanathapuram, Namakkal, Tirunelveli, Tiruppur, Dindigul, and Kanniyakumari, Madurai, and Virudhunagar districts of Tamil Nadu.
Cyclonic circulation is influencing the rainfall
The rainfall is likely due to a cyclonic circulation over the Southeast Bay of Bengal and the adjoining South Andaman Sea. The weather department also stated that, apart from Tamil Nadu, rainfall is likely to occur in other states, including Odisha, Karnataka, West Bengal, Maharashtra, and Telangana.
