Bastar, February 9: Security forces gunned down 31 Naxalites in an encounter in Chhattisgarh's Bijapur district on Sunday, offcials said, as per a report by the news agency ANI.
In the encounter which took place in the forests of the Indravati National Park, two security personnels were also killed. The police seized several weapons and explosives from the area during the anti-Maoist operation.
"Two jawans, including one from the District Reserve Guard (DRG) and the other from Special Task Force (STF), lost their lives, while two others were injured in the gunfight," Bastar IG P Sundarraj told ANI.
"The identification of the deceased Naxals is underway, and a search operation is ongoing in the area," he added.
As per the official, the security ersonnel injured in the encounter are currently stable and out of danger.
