A shocking video has surfaced showing a BMTC bus driver allegedly attempting to run over a woman who stood in front of the bus to stop it during an argument. The incident reportedly took place last month.
The video of the 23 May incident came to light after dashcam footage from a nearby car went viral online.
The footage shows the bus driver recklessly moving the vehicle forward despite the woman standing in front of it. Fortunately, the woman was pushed back a few steps but escaped unharmed.
According to reports, the BMTC bus was travelling from JJ Nagar to Nagwara Road when the incident occurred. The woman, who was driving a car, reportedly collided with the BMTC bus due to the driver’s rash and negligent driving. When the woman confronted the bus driver, an argument ensued.
During the altercation, the driver attempted to run over the woman.
A case has been filed against the BMTC bus driver at Cubbon Park Police Station for reckless behaviour, as reported by The Hindu.
Transport Minister R. Ramalinga Reddy responded to the incident, stating that strict action would be taken against the driver for his misconduct.
The BMTC has since suspended the accused driver, and a police probe into the matter is underway.
