Kolkata: Amid ‘Operation Sindoor’, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Thursday had held a meeting with ministers, secretaries of different departments, businessmen and cold storage owners and warned that black marketing of essential services will not be tolerated.

“The present situation is not good. This is not the time to earn more. This is the time to stand by the people. They (central government) had asked us to keep a good stock of essential products,” said Mamata.

On Wednesday the Union Home Minister Amit Shah had met with the Chief Ministers of various states. The West Bengal Chief Minister had also participated in the meeting.

“We are thinking that whatever will happen will take place in Kashmir. What if tension happens here? With a task force a team should make surprise visits in the market to see that no unscrupulous things are happening. The administration should be informed about such surprise visits. Special checks should be given to the borders. Products of the state should not go outside. Last year I banned exporting potatoes but was of no avail. If someone thinks that export can be done through railways, they are staying in fool’s paradise. Strong vigil will be given,” further added Mamata.

On the other hand, according to the state secretariat Nabanna sources, a cabinet meeting has been called on May 14 to think of ways to curb spreading of fake and misleading news.

On Wednesday, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had also urged people to refrain from spreading ‘fake’ news.
