BJP MP Abhijit Gangopadhyay Airlifted To Delhi AIIMS For Treatment

According to hospital sources, Gangopadhyay is stable but ‘serious’, for which the medical board members along with the BJP MP’s family and senior BJP leaders have decided to shift him for better treatment.

Kolkata: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP and former Calcutta High Court Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay on Thursday got airlifted to Delhi AIIMS for further treatment.

Gangopadhyay’s nephew and one driver had accompanied him to Delhi AIIMS from Kolkata and other family members are scheduled to join him later.

Gangopadhyay was admitted to a private hospital on June 14 with acute pancreatitis problem.

According to hospital sources, Gangopadhyay is stable but ‘serious’, for which the medical board members along with the BJP MP’s family and senior BJP leaders have decided to shift him for better treatment.

BJP state president and MoS Sukanta Majumdar said that he will receive good treatment in AIIMS.

“We are all praying for his speedy recovery,” said Majumdar.

One of Gangopadhyay’s relatives said, “Abhijit is stable but still not out of danger. So, he is being airlifted to Delhi for further treatment. Hope he recovers soon. His party leaders have spoken with us and we also gave consent to shift him.”

Notably, after being admitted in a private hospital in Kolkata, the medical bulletin given by the hospital said that after investigation it has been ascertained that Gangopadhyay has been suffering from acute pancreatitis with gastrointestinal sepsis.
