Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party national convener and former Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal had a narrow escape on Saturday as a man tried to attack him during his padyatra in Delhi's Greater Kailash. The incident was caught on camera and the video of the incident is doing rounds on social media. The attacker has been detained and an inquiry has been initiated in connection with the matter.
It can be seen in the video that the security personnel present along with Arvind Kejriwal during the padyatra block a man who is seen trying to throw some liquid from a bottle in Greater Kailash area. Arvind Kejriwal is seen walking amid a sea of supporters during the padyatra. A person erupted from the crowd and in the guise of shaking Kejriwal's hand the man removed a bottle and tried to spill the liquid present in the bottle at the former Delhi Chief Minister.
The security personnel present along with Kejriwal reacted swiftly and stopped failed the man in his attempt to attack Arvind Kejriwal. There are reports that it was water in the bottle and no harmful liquid has been thrown at Arvind Kejriwal. The attacker's identity has not been revealed yet and the motive behind the attack is also not known yet. The police have launched an investigation and are questioning the attacker after detaining him. Many such attempts have occurred against Kejriwal in the past.
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) is accusing that the attack has been done by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). AAP Rajasthan spokesperson Devendra Yadav has accused that the attack was done by the BJP.
He said, "Kejriwal was attacked by BJP during his march for raising questions on the deteriorating law and order situation in Delhi Amit Shah's failure has once again become public knowledge, there is no rule of law in Delhi but the rule of BJP goons. If a former Chief Minister is not safe in the country's capital, then what will happen to the common man? Delhi's law and order situation has completely collapsed under BJP rule."
He also shared a pic of the attacker claiming that the man behind the attack was linked to BJP.
