Samastipur: In a bizarre turn of events during Bihar’s ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise, an online application for a residential certificate was submitted in the name of United States President Donald Trump.
The form, which included a tampered Aadhaar number, barcode, and even a photo of Trump, listed his address as a small village in Samastipur district. Authorities have reportedly cancelled the application and lodged an FIR against an unknown individual responsible for the act.

This isn’t the first time the system has been misused for mischief. Just last month in Patna’s Masaurhi area, a residence certificate was shockingly issued to a dog named “Dog Babu.” The official document, generated via the RTPS portal, featured a canine photo and listed the address as Ward No 15, Kaulichak.
In a follow-up prank, another dog-themed application surfaced in Nawada district under the name “Dogesh Babu.” Nawada District Magistrate Ravi Prakash himself shared the fake application on social media, bringing the absurdity to public attention.
What Is Bihar’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR)?
The SIR is a voter roll verification drive launched by the Election Commission, which stated that it is to weed out discrepancies and update records across the state. Unlike routine updates, the SIR demands all eligible citizens, those 18 and older, residing in Bihar for over seven years, to re-submit details and submit fresh documents as proof of age and residence.
Officials believe these fake applications may be part of attempts to discredit or disrupt the revision process. “It is possible that this was done to influence the intensive revision programme,” said RTPS in-charge Srishti Sagar, confirming that the revenue officer cancelled the Trump application on 4 August and reported it to Cyber Police.
The prank has raised concerns about digital document abuse amid one of Bihar’s most crucial electoral exercises, especially when thousands reportedly lack the 11 listed documents required to prove their citizenship of the state. Investigations into the case is currently underway.
