The upcoming Delhi Assembly elections may still be months away, but the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has already launched a fierce online campaign to build momentum in its favor. As part of its efforts, AAP on Thursday shared a doctored video featuring actor Pankaj Tripathi to mock the BJP.

The caption of AAP's post read, "Tell BJP men—I am not a fool..."

The video, originally an advertisement by UPI cautioning people against fraudsters, was altered with edited voiceovers to launch attack on BJP.

In the edite version, Tripathi is heard saying, "I sell groundnuts, not my brain. See this message—BJP is asking for votes, claiming they will bring development. As if I don’t know that once we vote for them, they’ll siphon off government funds. I’m a groundnut seller, not a fool."

The video quickly went viral, drawing mixed reactions from netizens. While some praised the seamless editing that made the fake voice indistinguishable, others criticised AAP for using deceptive tactics.

Critics also pointed out the potential legal implications of such a move. Some speculated that a defamation case against AAP could be imminent for altering the UPI ad and using Tripathi’s voice without consent.

Netizens' Reactions:

"Does Pankaj Tripathi know he’s featured in your ad?" questioned one user.

"AI...? Defamation is coming," wrote another.

"Without any disclaimer, Pankaj Tripathi’s AI-dubbed voice is being used to endorse political parties. Where are the Delhi BJP workers?" commented another user. "Nice editing," remarked one user.
