Jaipur: Following the Pahalgam terrorist attack, the Rajasthan government has launched a statewide campaign to deport the Bangladeshi immigrants living illegally in the state. New detention centers have been made to detain these Bangladeshi citizens.

Special teams of Rajasthan police have arrested around 200 Bangladeshis in different districts in the last couple of days.

The large-scale operation to identify and deport illegal Bangladeshi immigrants follows the directive issued by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma during a high-level meeting held on Wednesday. Sharma had asked officials to step up surveillance and take strict action against undocumented Bangladeshi nationals.

Jaipur Range IG Ajaypal Lamba said that raids are being conducted in all the districts of the range. In the operation, searches were conducted at slums, factories, shops, mining, scrap warehouses and brick kilns. During this, 33 suspects were arrested from Khandela in Sikar, 3 from Baswa in Dausa, 22 from Naraina, Jobner, Shahpura and Chandwaji in Jaipur Rural, 27 from Shahjahanpur in Kotputli-Bahrod and 19 from Bhiwadi. Apart from these, six have been arrested from Ajmer, 52 from Jaipur city and 27 from Salumber near Udaipur.

The officials said that all arrested are Bangladeshi citizens, who have forged documents and are being sent to the detention center.

Looking at the special campaign, new detention centers have been made in the state. There was only one detention center earlier in Alwar. Now, new centers have been made operational in Jhadol in Udaipur, Merta in Nagaur, and Behror. With these new facilities becoming operational on Thursday, the total number of detention centers in the state has increased to four. These centers will hold those identified as foreign nationals, mostly Bangladeshi citizens, after an initial verification of their citizenship status.

Along with this, the government is corresponding with the BSF and the Central Government to deport them to Bangladesh.
