Patna: A 1991-batch IAS officer and Bihar Development Commissioner, Pratyaya Amrit, will be the new Chief Secretary of the state from September 1.
Before assuming the charge of Chief Secretary, Pratyaya Amrit has been given the additional responsibility of Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Chief Secretary's Office.
The General Administration Department issued a notification related to this on Monday evening.


According to the notification issued by the Additional Chief Secretary of the department, Dr B Rajender, the current Chief Secretary of Bihar and 1989 batch Indian Administrative Service officer, Amrit Lal Meena, will retire on August 31, 2025.
In view of it, Development Commissioner Pratyaya Amrit has been transferred and posted as Chief Secretary of Bihar with effect from September 1. Development Commissioner Pratyaya Amrit is currently also in additional charge of the Additional Chief Secretary of the Health Department and the Disaster Management Department.
