In a horrific act of brutality, a dog in Bellem, Navelim, was shot four times with an airgun, three bullets piercing its stomach and one striking its head, simply for allegedly entering a neighbour's property. The severely injured animal, left in agony, is currently fighting for its life under medical care.
The incident, captured in a chilling CCTV clip circulating online, shows the accused calmly aiming and firing at the terrified dog as it desperately tries to flee. Outraged by the cruelty, the dog's owner, supported by DSPCA South Goa officers Virginia Simmons, Amol Satoskar, and Raj Pratik, lodged a formal complaint at Margao Police Station, leading to the registration of an FIR.
The shocking incident has ignited widespread anger, with animal lovers across Goa gathering outside Margao Police Station on Friday to demand swift arrest and stringent legal action against the perpetrator. Protesters emphasised that the dog remains in critical condition, with airgun pellets still embedded in its body, underscoring the severity of the attack.
As the injured canine continues to undergo treatment, calls for justice grow louder, with activists and citizens alike urging authorities to take decisive action to prevent such acts of cruelty in the future.
