Actress Ayesha Raza, who will soon be seen in the film, Aap Jaisa Koi, recalled the time when she lived in Delhi and shared how it was a norm for women to carry safety pins with them to protect themselves around lecherous men in public transport.
"You have to travel in Delhi buses with a safety pin. We always did that. I always took a bus from Mehrauli to Okhla, and it was one of those routes on which the buses would be so crowded that you had to struggle to even get in. I took that route for many years. And it always used to be old uncles who would misbehave," she shared.
She went on to say, "I used to carry a safety pin always and keep it where it was accessible, sometimes hang it around my neck with a chain, and the moment someone would come near or try to misbehave, I would just prick them with it."
'Eve-teasing has turned to trolling': Ayesha Raza
The Dil Dhadakne Do actress also stated that public harassment has now changed to online trolling because of increased scrutiny.
"The public eve-teasing has gone down in general, because there are so many cameras around, someone can just record your video and it will go viral, so people don't take that risk," she said.
She further explained, "Now it has gone to trolling. Now you'll do the same thing, but you'll do it online. People now make a fake account and comment on women, and do all those things that give them pleasure, but online."
