Influencer and content creator Apoorva Mukhija has been grabbing eyeballs over her participation in the controversial episode of Samay Raina's show India's Got Latent, alongside Ranveer Allahbadia. Apoorva, along with Samay and Ranveer, has been booked by cops for making indecent and obscene comments on the show, during her appearance on it as one of the guests.
Apoorva found herself at the receiving end of severe backlash after she was seen laughing at Ranveer's objectionable comment on parents having sex. "He asked a contestant, "Would you rather watch your parents have sex for the rest of your life — or would you join in once and stop it forever?" Apoorva and Samay laughed and added to the comment, and in another segment, she was also seen asking a contestant if he had ever seen a vagina.
Who is Apoorva Mukhija?
Apoorva's statements on the show did not go down well with netizens, who stated that she was to be held equally responsible as she led Ranveer on instead of stopping him.
Apoorva is famously known as The Rebel Kid on social media, and she shot to popularity after videos of her ranting about general issues of life went viral online. At present, she has 2.6 million followers on Instagram alone, and 500,000 subscribers on Youtube.
Apoorva hails from Noida and she completed her education at Manipal University in Jaipur. Post gaining followers, she collaborated with a number of leading brands including Google, Nike, Amazon, Meta, Swiggy, Maybelline and others.
Instagram and Youtube are now Apoorva's primary source of income. In 2023, she marked her acting debut with the web show, Who's Your Gynac.
Apoorva yet to issue statement
Meanwhile, as the controversy over the India's Got Latent episode gained momentum, Ranveer Allahbadia took to his social media and issued an apology. "I personally had a lapse in judgement... Wasn't cool on my part. The podcast is watched by people of all ages and I don't want to be the kind of person that takes that responsibility lightly, and family is the last thing that I would ever disrespect," he said.
Apoorva, on the other hand, is yet to react to the criticism and backlash.
