Actress and fashionista Uorfi Javed recently revealed that choreographer Dhanashree Verma thanked her after she came out in her support amid divorce rumours with Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal. For those unversed, in January 2024, Uorfi had called out the unfair targeting of women in cases of separation. However, she had not mentioned anyone in her Instagram story.
During her recent Humans of Bombay podcast, when the host brought up the controversy surrounding Yuzvendra and Dhanashree, highlighting the harsh backlash the choreographer faced online and the flood of insulting comments on her social media, Uorfi opened up about her own experience.
She revealed, "I had posted a story in support of her because I felt she was being treated very unfairly. She reached out to me and thanked me for the support, as she was going through a very difficult time."
Back then, Uorfi had slammed those who blame only 'women' for separations. She reposted a video on her Instagram story which claimed that Dhanashree 'ruined' Chahal's life.
Reacting to it, she wrote, "Every time a cricketer is breaking up or getting divorced, the woman is bashed left right and centre just because in our head our cricketer is our hero. None of us have any idea what happened between the two or even during Natasha and Hardik's case but of course it's the woman who is at fault."
"Oh and don't forget the time when Anushka was blamed for Virat's bad performances. Remember? So it's always the woman who is to be blamed for the man's action? These are grown men with fully functioning brains who know what they are doing," she added, extending support to Dhanashree.
Neither Dhanashree nor Chahal have confirmed the reports about their divorce yet. However, the two have unfollowed each other and have even deleted pictures with each other from their social media handles.
Rumours were also rife that Chahal is in a relationship with popular RJ Mahavash. However, on January 10, she clarified that she is not dating the cricketer.
Dhanashree, who was one of the participants on the dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 11, had revealed how she met Chahal in one of the episodes. "During the lockdown, cricketers were frustrated with no matches happening. One day, Yuzi decided he wanted to learn dance after seeing my videos. He approached me, and I agreed to teach him," she said.
Dhanashree and Chahal tied the knot in December 2020 in an intimate ceremony after a brief relationship.
