Tamil actor Powerstar Srinivasan was arrested by the Delhi Police on Wednesday in connection to a Rs 1000 crore loan fraud case. He was arrested by officials of the Economic Offences Wing (EOW) after he skipped multiple court appearances since 2018.
According to reports, Srinivasan has been accused of receiving a commission of Rs 5 crore from a businessman, in exchange of a promise of arranging Rs 1000 crore loan for them through financial institutions. But after the businessman paid the commission amount, he did not receive any loan, and that is when he filed a police complaint.
The reports also mentioned that the actor had been summoned by the court several times since 2018 in connection to the case, but he skipped all of them and did not show up.
During the investigation, officials also found out that six fraud cases have been registered against Srinivasan in Chennai in the past few years.
The actor was thus arrested on Wednesday, and he will now be interrogated in connection to the case.
