Mohabbatein actress Preeti Jhangiani, after attending the screening of her recently released film Udaipur Files, based on the 2022 murder of tailor Kanhaiya Lal in Udaipur, urged viewers to watch the film first before forming opinions. The film, earlier slated for release on July 11, faced petitions seeking a ban over allegations of communal harm. However, on Wednesday, the Delhi High Court allowed its release despite a plea by the murder accused citing prejudice to the trial.
'Nobody Should Be Scared': Preeti Jhangiani On Udaipur Files
Reacting to the matter, Preeti told the media after the Udaipur Files screening that the film is based on a true incident and that no one should be afraid to speak the truth. She added. "I believe this film has shown the truth, showcasing both the positive and negative aspects of every religion. Real human nature and reality have been shown."
"So, I don't think anyone should have any objection...Watch the film and then form an opinion," she Jhangiani, as quoted by ANI.
Changes In Udaipur Files
Before its release, the central government committee, after a screening of Udaipur Files on July 17, ordered six changes to the film. These included revising the disclaimer and adding a voice-over to read out the updated version, removing all references to a character named Nutan Sharma and replacing them with a different name, revising an AI-generated scene resembling a Saudi Arabia-style execution, and deleting certain dialogues referring to the Balochi community.
