In a shocking turn of events, it has been reported that Pakistani actress Humaira Asghar Ali, who was found dead in her Karachi residence on Tuesday (July 8), likely passed away nine months back. The post-mortem report has stated the Humaira's body was discovered in a "very advanced stage of decomposition."
What police officials found out
A report in Arab News stated that the apartment where she lived had no other residents on the same floor, and one of the balcony doors had been left open.
By the time neighbours returned to the building in February 2025, any noticeable odor had already dissipated. However, dried and rusted water pipes, corroded jars, and expired food, estimated to be over six months old, indicated a long period of isolation.
"Humaira's body is likely nine months old. She probably died between paying her last utility bills and when her electricity was disconnected in October 2024, probably due to non-payment of the bill," an official reportedly said.
According to the Call Detail Record (CDR), the actress' last phone call was made in October 2024. Other neighbours also recalled last seeing her around September or October last year.
Also, the actress was not active on social media and her last Instagram post dated September 2024.
Body discovered after landlord's complaint
According to reports, Humaira's bod was discovered only after her landlord filed a complaint over unpaid house rent. The Gizri police had arrived at the residence on the orders of a local court, following a request from the landlord to have the house vacated due to unpaid rent.
Family refuses to accept body
On July 10, it was reported that Humaira's father refused to claim her dead body and said the family had cut ties with her long back.
Police initially contacted Humaira's brother through her phone records, but were instructed to speak directly with her father.
The response from her father, Dr Asghar Ali, a retired army doctor, was, "We have cut off ties with her long ago. Do whatever you want with her body. We will not receive it."
According to a report in Images, the Sindh culture department offered to handle the burial and funeral arrangements of Humaira.
Who was Humaira Asghar?
Humaira had featured in ARY's reality show Tamasha Ghar, a project which has its concept similar to Big Brother. She also appeared in the 2015 action-thriller film Jalaibee. She was seen as a model in the Pakistani film.
Humaira was also a part of other Pakistani dramas like Just Married, Chal Dil Mere, Ehsaan Faramosh and Guru.
She was last seen in the film Love Vaccine which starred Farhan Saeed and Sonya Hussyn in the lead roles. The film released in 2021.
