Humaira Asghar's death
South Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Syed Asad Raza told Pakistani news portal Images that Humaira's body was recovered from an apartment in the Ittehad Commercial area. The Gizri police had arrived at the residence around 3:15 pm on the orders of a local court, following a request from the landlord to have the apartment vacated due to unpaid rent.
When there was no response at the door, officers entered and found Humaira's decomposed body inside. The apartment had been locked from the inside, including the balcony door, suggesting no immediate signs of foul play.
Investigation underway
Humarira's body was sent to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for legal and medical procedures.
Media reports have also stated that the actress had been living alone in the rented apartment and had stopped paying rent earlier this year. The landlord approached the court for eviction after being unable to contact her.
While preliminary investigations suggest that the death may not have been a homicide, police say they are awaiting the postmortem report to determine the exact cause.
