Dhanush starrer Kuberaa received mixed to positive reviews from the critics, and the audience's response has also been average. The film was expected to take a good start at the box office, and according to Sacnilk, on its day one, Kuberaa has collected approximately Rs. 13 crore (all languages). But what has shocked us is that the film has performed well in Telugu, and the Tamil version had a low opening.
The film has approximately collected Rs. 8.75 crore in Telugu and Rs. 4.25 crore in Tamil. This is shocking because Dhanush is primarily a Tamil film actor. Meanwhile, Kuberaa also stars Nagarjuna and Rashmika Mandanna, who are prominent faces in Telugu film industry, and the movie is directed by Sekhar Kammula, who has majorly directed Telugu movies. So, maybe because of Nagarjuna, Rashmika, and Sekhar, the movie got a better opening in Telugu than Tamil.
If we just look at the Tamil collection, Kuberaa has opened less than Dhanush's last two releases Raayan and Captain Miller. The former had minted Rs. 11.85 crore (Tamil) on its day one, and the latter had taken an opening of Rs. 8.05 (Tamil).
Meanwhile, in Hindi, Kuberaa has received a dismal response because of the tough competition from Aamir Khan starrer Sitaare Zameen Par.

Kuberaa Budget
Kuberaa is reportedly made on a budget of Rs. 120 crore, so the film really needs to show a huge jump over the weekend, and continue to do well at the box office on weekdays as well. For now, it looks like by the end of its first weekend, the movie might collect around Rs. 30-35 crore.

Kuberaa Reviews
The Free Press Journal reviewer gave Kuberaa 3.5 stars and wrote, "Kuberaa isn’t a perfect film. It soars early, stumbles briefly, and skids at the end. But its heart beats loud, and sometimes, that’s enough. If you’re the kind who likes their thrillers brooding rather than blazing, with a pinch of moral inquiry and a generous dollop of understated star power, it might be your currency of choice."
