Days after actress Shivangi Verma, 31, slammed 70-year-old Govind Namdev for claiming it was her idea to fake a romantic angle between them to promote their film, the veteran actor hit back at her saying that she went too far and revealed that he has now cut ties with her. He also questioned her upbringing and stated that she should have apologised instead of making their spat public.
For those unversed, it all began when Shivangi had shared a behind-the-scenes photo with Namdev online from their film, Gaurishankar Goharganj Wale, along with the caption, "Pyaar knows no age, no limits". Speculations about the two dating went viral, and both of them were slammed for their massive age difference. However, Namdev later clarified that it was a part of their film's publicity, and that the whole gimmick was Shivangi's idea.
Things took an ugly turn when Namdev accused Shivangi of posting their photos without permission leading to further misunderstandings. Shivangi then responded to the veteran actor with an Instagram story stating, "Sahi kaha hai kisi ne, buzurg badhti umr mein satiya jaate hain (sic)."
Now, in a recent interview with Hindustan Times, Namdev stated that he never spoke to Shivangi after the controversy blew up. "I remove such people from my life. If I feel someone is harmful, I cut ties with them," he said.
"Aadmi ki jiss tarah ki parvarish hoti hai, jiss tarah ke sanskar hote hain voh ussi soch ka aadmi hota hai aur voh ussi hisaab se aapni life ko dekhta hai aur logon ke saath interact ya behave karta hai. This entire situation is a reflection of that. Instead of apologising, the way she is handling things depends on her own judgment. I don’t pay much attention to such matters," he added.
Shivangi is yet to react to Namdev's statement.
