Mohit Suri had revealed in an interview that he had initially planned to make Saiyaara as Aashiqui 3, but that didn't happen. Now, there have been reports that Anurag Basu's next with Kartik Aaryan might be Aashiqui 3, but the makers have not yet officially announced the title of the movie. However, when the announcement video was released, Kartik was seen singing the recreated version of the song Tu Meri Zindagi Hai from the movie Aashiqui (1990).
Suri in an interview with News 18 revealed that T-Series had approached him to direct the Kartik Aaryan starrer, but he couldn't do the film. Later, Basu was roped in for the movie. The Saiyaara director said, “He (Basu) told me that they had offered him the opportunity to make the sequel. He probably had a script in mind, and they decided to make the film with him.”
Further talking about the controversy revolving around the title, Suri stated, “Now, what the equation between Bhushan (Kumar) ji and Mukesh (Bhatt) ji is, I don’t know. Sometimes, they love each other and sometimes, they hate each other. That’s between them."

The Ek Villain director said that he had assisted Basu and worked under him. So, it is not like the Barfi director is stepping into something that was his.
Suri added, "I really look up to him. But I don’t know what’s happening there. I was too consumed with Saiyaara. I wish them all the luck and praise. But to be honest, I don’t know if Aashiqui 3 is being made or not."
Well, Kartik Aaryan fans have been waiting for the movie which is slated to release on Diwali this year. There were reports that it might get postponed, but the makers have not yet officially announced anything about it.
