Singer Amaal Mallik recently made shocking claims, stating that Kartik Aaryan is being 'targeted' by big producers, directors, and actors, just like the late Sushant Singh Rajput, who died by suicide on June 14, 2020, at the age of 34 at his residence in Bandra, Mumbai. Amaal added that while the audience became aware of Bollywood's harsh realities after Sushant's death, they didn’t realise the industry could be so dark that it might drive someone to such an extreme step.
During an interaction with Mirchi Plus, Amaal said, "Sushant Singh Rajput handle nahi kar paaya, some blame it as murder, some as suicide, but aadmi toh chala gaya na. Iss industry ne hi kuch kiya hai unke mind pe ya soul pe. Logon ne unko demoralise kiya; industry aisi jagah hai. Aur jab woh baat khulke aayi, common public ka sentiment Bollywood ke against ho gaya. Publicly, kabhi industry ki band nahi baji jitni Sushant ke death ke baad baji, sab kuch cheen liya, aur woh deserving bhi tha. They deserve to see this downfall. Acche aadmi ke saath galat hua."

Further, Amaal stated that similar things have been happening to Kartik Aaryan, whether directly or indirectly. He shared that the Chandu Champion actor faced the same kind of challenges but overcame them with a smile on his face and through dance, thanks to the support and guidance of his parents.
"He is also a newcomer, has done his bit, usko bhi 100 log hatane ki firak mein hain. Powerplay karte hain bade bade producers, directors, actors," added Amaal.
Amaal shared that the aura once associated with stars like Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Akshay Kumar has faded, and after Sushant's death, the audience has stopped believing in the magic of cinema. He added that people now perceive the film industry as a terrible place.
"Aaj kisi bhi star kid ki film tab tak nahi chalegi jab tak acchi narrative ya relatable subject nahi hoga. Yeh ek sentiment aa gaya hai. Koi Bollywood gaana bhi nahi sunta, like, 'They are killers', aise bolte hain log," concluded Amaal.
