Popular South Korean actress Lee Si Young, known for K-dramas like Sweet Home, My Beautiful Bride and Boys Over Flowers, took to her social media handle on Tuesday to announce that she is pregnant with her second child. This comes months after she announced her divorce with businessman, Cho Seong-hyun.
The 43-year-old shared that she conceived her second child with the help of a frozen embryo which she had created with her ex-husband five years ago. "Eight years ago, when I was pregnant with the most precious person in my life, my son Jung Yoon, I was not yet married and was filming a drama at the time. Back then, I was younger and far less mature than I am now. As I watched Jung Yoon grow year after year, I often regretted and blamed myself for the time I had spent with worry and negative thoughts. So I made a promise to myself that if life ever came to me again, I would not repeat the same regrets," she wrote.
Explaining her decision, she went on to say, "During my marriage, I underwent IVF treatment to prepare for a second child. However, time passed without implanting the embryo, and naturally, talks of divorce began to take place. Around the time all legal matters were being finalized, the five-year storage period for the frozen embryo was nearing its end. I had to make a decision. Before the embryo was discarded, I made the personal choice to proceed with implantation."
Si-young revealed that she did not take the consent of her ex-husband before deciding to conceive her second child.

"I have always wanted another child, and I never wanted to repeat the regret I had felt with Jung Yoon. I couldn’t bring myself to throw away the embryo that had been stored all this time. Even during a difficult marriage, what gave me strength was that angelic child who brought me happiness, hope, and emotion. Being called 'Mom' made me feel like I had a reason to exist -- it was that miraculous," she shared in her heartfelt note.
"With deep responsibility, I will do my best to live sincerely and ensure that my child, who has come to me again, lacks nothing—even if I am raising the baby alone," Si-young concluded the note.

For those unversed, Si-Young got married to Cho Seong-hyun in September 2017. However, earlier this year, they decided to part ways, and in March, they announced their divorce.
