Vicky Kaushal starrer Chhaava was expected to do well at the box office. But, the film has surpassed all the expectations and it has been doing an exceptional business at the box office. The film took a bumper opening and during its first weekend collected Rs. 116.50 crore. It was expected that it will drop on Monday, but even after the drop, Chhaava went on to collect Rs. 24 crore on its day four which is excellent.
After a fantastic Monday, it was expected that on Tuesday, the movie will be stable or see a drop in collection. However, to everyone's surprise, Chhaava showed a growth on its day five with a collection of Rs. 25.25 crore.

Now, yesterday (Wednesday), it was Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Jayanti, a partial holiday, esecpially in Maharashtra. So, it was expected that the movie will show a huge jump at the box office, and that happened. According to sacnilk, Chhaava collected approx. Rs. 32 crore on its sixth day, taking the till date total to Rs. 197.75 crore. The sixth day amount is better than the day one collection.
There will surely be a drop today, but once again, we can expect a Rs. 20 crore plus collection on day seven. It will cross the Rs. 200 crore mark at the box office in its first week itself. Reportedly, the movie is made on a budget of Rs. 130 crore, so it is already a super hit.

If we talk about period films in Bollywood, Chhaava has already surpassed the lifetime collection of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Bajirao Mastani which starred Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, and Priyanka Chopra in the lead roles. It clearly looks like it will beat Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior (Rs. 279.60 crore) as well. But, let's wait and watch whether the Vicky Kaushal starrer will surpass the lifetime collection of Padmaavat (Rs. 302.15 crore) or not.
