Mumbai: The Amboli police on Saturday registered an FIR against actress Ruchi Gujjar, 27, based on a complaint filed by producer and director Man Lal Singh, 40. The police filed the case against her for allegedly arriving at the Solang Valley movie premiere at Cinepolis, located in Fun Republic Mall, Andheri West, on Friday, where she verbally and physically abused Singh. She allegedly threw a water bottle at him, hit him with her sandal, and threatened to stop the release of the film.
About The Case
Earlier, on July 24, based on Gujjar’s complaint, the Amboli police had registered an FIR against Singh’s friend, Karan Singh Chauhan, for allegedly cheating her out of Rs.25 lakh.
The complainant, Man Lal Singh, resides in Goregaon West and operates a production company named Shorya Studio. According to the FIR, Singh’s friend Chauhan had once shown him a photo of Ruchi Gujjar, introducing her as his friend. In 2023, Singh met Gujjar at two parties along with Chauhan.
Since 2023, Singh has been producing the movie Solang Valley with Chauhan as the co-producer. Singh claimed that no financial transactions had taken place between them. Later, he came to know that Gujjar had accused Chauhan of cheating her. As a result, Singh decided to keep Chauhan away from the film’s production.
Over the past month, Gujjar had been sending messages to Singh, stating that Chauhan had taken money from her and invested it in the Solang Valley film. She allegedly threatened that if her money was not returned, she would prevent the release of the movie. Gujjar also filed a petition in the City Civil Court, Dindoshi, opposing the film’s release. However, the court rejected the petition.
On July 25, around 9 PM, the premiere show of Solang Valley was organised at Cinepolis, Fun Republic Mall, Andheri West. At around 8:40 PM, Gujjar allegedly arrived at the venue with four women bouncers and a few male bouncers. She was not invited and did not have a valid pass, but she forcefully entered the second floor of the mall.
According to Singh, Gujjar began shouting and threatening that she would not allow the movie’s release. She verbally abused him and allegedly assaulted his female bouncers. She then removed her sandal and hit Singh on the cheek. When bystanders tried to intervene, she allegedly threw a water bottle at Singh. Her bouncers also reportedly beat him. Bystanders somehow managed to protect Singh.
Following the incident, Singh went to the Versova Police Station and filed a complaint against Gujjar and her bouncers. The police registered a case under Sections 329(3) (criminal trespass and house trespass), 115(2) (voluntarily causing hurt), 351(2) (criminal intimidation), 352 (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace), along with relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.
