The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will conclude the application process for the Civil Services (Preliminary) examination, 2025, on February 18 on the official website of UPSC at upsc.gov.in and upsconline.gov.in. Previously, the application date was February 11.
This year's Civil Services test will be held for around 979 posts. The UPSC Civil Services (Prelims) examination 2025 will take place on May 25, 2025.
When applying for the exam, applicants must first construct a One-Time Registration (OTR) profile. The OTR profile has validity for life and individuals who have made it can simply fill out the application form.
Exam Pattern
UPSC CSE 2025 will be divided into two parts: preliminary and main (written test and interview). The commission's website provides a full examination scheme and syllabus. Incorrect answers to objective-type questions posed in UPSC CSE 2025 will result in negative grading.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must have a graduation degree or similar qualification to take the UPSC CSE 2025 exam.
Those who have taken the qualifying exam for the graduation degree but have yet to get their results are also eligible to apply. Nevertheless, if they qualify for the interview/personality test, they must demonstrate that they finished the exam.
Aspirants with MBBS/BDS/Veterinary Science and comparable degrees must confirm internship completion.
Those with MBBS or other professional qualifications for medical degrees who have not yet completed the internship will be able to take the UPSC CSE 2025 provisionally. During the interview, they must present their degree certificate as well as proof of completion of their internship.
Age Limit
On August 1, 2025, applicants' ages can range from 21 to 32 years. The upper age limit will be reduced for reserve category applicants.
Application Fees
The UPSC CSE 2025 application cost is Rs. 100. Female/SC/ST/Persons with Benchmark Disability applicants are not required to pay an application fee.
How many attempts can be made?
Unreserved applicants can take the UPSC CSE six times. Those who are OBC are allowed nine attempts at the exam, but SC and ST candidates are not limited to that number.
