Background on NEET UG 2024 Exam and Ongoing Discussions

The NEET UG 2024 exam was conducted on May 5, 2024. However, after the results were announced by the National Testing Agency (NTA), allegations emerged regarding a paper leak and the manipulation of marks for 1,563 candidates. These allegations led to legal action, with the Supreme Court intervening. Following a review, the number of top scorers in the exam was reduced from 61 to 17.

Meanwhile, discussions are ongoing between the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health regarding the format of the NEET UG 2025 exam. The decision on whether the exam will be conducted in pen-and-paper format or shifted to an online mode is expected soon. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan confirmed that two rounds of talks have already taken place with Union Health Minister JP Nadda.
