In a bid to strengthen educational standards and compliance, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) carried out surprise inspections in 10 schools in six regions covering five states and one Union Territory on Wednesday.
Objective: Strengthening Accountability and Educational Standards
The inspections were aimed at ensuring that schools are complying with CBSE bye-laws, keeping academic standards as well as infrastructure standards intact, and staying away from malpractices like admitting students who don't attend to regular classes.
Every inspection team consisted of a CBSE official and a principal from a different CBSE-affiliated school. Such assessments were done in synchronised and time-bound manner to maintain the surprise factor and capture a real-life picture of the daily operation of the schools.
The board, in a press release, said that the inspections were done at the same time in a coordinated effort to preserve the surprise factor and to catch an accurate appraisal of the working of the schools on the day of the visit.
Next Steps: Action Pending Committee Reports
CBSE has established that the Inspection Committees have received their preliminary reports, and actions would subsequently be taken after their assessments. The board confirmed it was committed to strict monitoring, noting that any departures from norms would be taken seriously.
The move is part of a larger CBSE plan to enhance transparency, oversee school activity, and ensure level quality within affiliated schools.
