India Takes Advantage of US-China Trade War |

New Delhi: With trade tensions rising between the US and China, India sees a golden opportunity. The Indian government is preparing to step in as an alternative hub for production and trade. As per sources, India is in talks with the US to push its interests. These talks are happening virtually for now, but both sides are planning to meet face-to-face next month.

No Forced Deal, India Stands Firm

India has made it clear that it won't agree to any deal under pressure. It does not want to wait for the 90-day relief period either. A senior government official said that India might make some adjustments but will make sure to get strong returns in return.

Oil Deal May Sweeten Talks

Due to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, America has taken some strict steps. In response, India is planning to buy crude oil from the US. This move could become an important part of the trade deal between the two countries.

Focus on Apple Production and Auto Parts

India has requested the US to offer discounts on auto parts. At the same time, India is ready to boost production of apples and other items. It has also said that it can manufacture many products that are currently made in China, especially American brand goods.

Stopping Unfair Trade from China and Vietnam

India is also being cautious. It doesn’t want goods from China and Vietnam—especially the ones facing US tariffs—to be dumped into the Indian market. A special council has been formed to monitor such imports and protect Indian interests.

Looking for New Growth Areas

India wants to invest in sectors that are not usually seen as strong. The government is planning to give support through the PLI (Production-Linked Incentive) scheme. This will help Indian companies grow and compete at the global level.

Shielding India from Tariff Wars

The Indian government believes that it can protect the country from the global tariff war. At the same time, India hopes to take a bigger role in the world’s supply chain as a reliable and stable trade partner.
