OpenAI’s ChatGPT has improved its search response feature with the ability to even do image search. The company has confirmed that overall search response quality has been improved with ChatGPT with more intelligent responses, ability to handle longer conversational contexts, and ability to follow longer instructions. Overall, ChatGPT is able to understand context better, and search responses will be of better quality than before.
These improvements were highlighted in ChatGPT’s changelog that focused on search responses. The changleog confirmed that ChatGPT users can now even search the web using an image they’ve uploaded as well. To recall, the new native search engine on ChatGPT was rolled out in late 2024. Since then, the company has continuously released improvements.
The latest update brings smarter responses that are more intelligent, are better at understanding what you’re asking, and provide more comprehensive answers. ChatGPT can also now handle longer conversational contexts, allowing better intelligence in longer conversations. It brings improved search capability and more robust instruction following. ChatGPT also gets the capability to run multiple searches automatically for complex or difficult questions.
There are some known limitations that ChatGPT says that it will fix soon. These includes longer responses with this new search experience, and in some cases, a “chain of thought” reasoning will show up unexpectedly for simple queries. It is important to note that ChatGPT is an AI tool and can offer erroneous responses.
A recent AI Trends Report by Mary Meeker reveals that India has surpassed US in the monthly active user base and is now the largest consumer of the ChatGPT platform. The report suggests that India now accounts for 13.5 percent of global ChatGPT users, the largest in the world. The second on the list is US with 8.9 percent user base.
