Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A 24-year-old woman bank employee was found hanging at her rented accommodation in Rohit Nagar under the Shahpura police station area late Wednesday night. Police reached the spot after receiving information from the landlord and sent the body for post mortom.
The deceased, identified as Sonali Sharma, was posted in the insurance branch of a private bank and had been transferred to Bhopal from Indore three months ago. However, her parents were unaware of the new posting and believed she was still working in Indore.
No suicide note was recovered from the spot. The woman’s phone and call details are being examined to find clues regarding the reasons behind her extreme step, said police.
ASI Jagannath Singh from Shahpura police station said the body of Sonali Sharma was found hanging in her room, which was locked from the inside. Other tenants spotted the body and informed the landlord, Chitresh.
Investigations revealed that Sonali had shifted to Bhopal from Indore three months ago and had rented a room in Rohit Nagar. Her parents, who reside in the Kolar area, were unaware of her transfer as Sonali never informed them about it, Singh added.
The family, in shock, are unable to understand why she kept her transfer a secret and what led her to take such an extreme step. They told police that Sonali had spoken to them on Wednesday evening but did not mention that she was living in Bhopal. While talking to them, she neither expressed any distress nor did the family sense anything unusual in her behaviour, the kin told cops.
