Morena (Madhya Pradesh): A couple died after the drunk husband allegedly stabbed his wife with a sickle, and then consumed poison himself in Morena on Thursday.
The man died on the spot, while the seriously injured wife died in the ambulance on the way to the hospital.

According to information, the couple, Ramvilas Kushwaha and his wife Saroj, were originally from Lilahar Ka Pura village in Kailaras area. They were living in a hut on farmland they had taken on lease in Khumanpura and were farming there.
Around 3 PM on the day of the incident, Ramvilas, who had consumed alcohol, reached the hut and started fighting with Saroj. When she responded, he got angry and attacked her with a sickle.
After the attack, Ramvilas called his elder daughter Nandini and told her in a weak voice that he had killed her mother and had taken poison himself. Nandini immediately informed her sister-in-law, Gudiya.
According to the post-mortem report, Saroj had six deep wounds on her head and jaw. The sickle had gone through her jaw, and the wounds on her head were so deep that parts of the brain were visible.
Saroj was first taken to Kailaras Community Health Center and then referred to Morena District Hospital.
Unfortunately, the ambulance got stuck in traffic at the Barrier crossing due to road construction.
The road was reduced to a single lane, and the ambulance remained stuck for over 30 minutes. Saroj died in the ambulance before reaching the hospital.
The couple had three daughters and two sons. Four of their children were already married, and they had grandchildren. According to Ramvilas’s brother Doji, the couple had never had such a serious fight before.
The entire family is in shock. Saroj was unconscious and could not say anything, so the exact reason behind the fight is still unknown.
Kailaras police station in-charge Santosh Babu Gautam said Ramvilas was addicted to alcohol and took this step while drunk.
Police have recovered the blood-stained sickle and a brick from the scene and are investigating the matter.
