Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh High Court, principal bench at Jabalpur on Thursday directed the Madhya Pradesh Power Transmission Company Limited (MPPTCL) to file an affidavit on denying reservation to OBC candidates in recruitments.
The court asked why the MPPTCL has failed to give 10 per cent relaxation to OBCs in direct recruitment.
The MPPTCL had issued an advertisement on June 24, 2025 for direct recruitment to various regular posts- 42 posts of assistant engineer, 01 post of law officer, 114 posts of junior engineer, 10 posts of junior engineer civil, 20 posts of line attendant, 158 posts of sub center attendant and 08 posts of surveyor attendant.
In the said advertisement, SC, ST and EWS have been given 10% relaxation in educational qualification, but 65% marks have been fixed for Other Backward Classes (OBC) like the unreserved category (UR).
No kind of relaxation has been mentioned in the said advertisement to candidates of OBC category, whereas there is a provision for giving relaxation in the law.
Senior Advocate Rameshwar Thakur said, “ We have challenged the said advertisement in the High Court. A division bench of Justice M S Bhatti conducted the preliminary hearing.
An interim order has been passed to include the petitioner in the recruitment. HC has ordered the company to file a reply on an affidavit.”
