Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Chief Minister Mohan Yadav paid tribute to the founder of the Bharatiya Jana Sangh and the BJP idealogue, Syama Prasad Mookerjee, on his death anniversary on Monday.
Addressing a program organised on the occasion, CM Yadav remembered his contributions and urged the party workers to follow the path shown by Dr Mookerjee. He had protested against Article 370, which granted special status to Jammu and Kashmir.
Dr Mookerjee was the leader who opposed the system of permit to enter Kashmir, he had anticipated the problem of Jammu and Kashmir post independence and had resigned from the cabinet, said the chief minister.
He started his yatra and entered Jammu and Kashmir, and the government had detained him for 45 days for violating Article 370. He died under mysterious circumstances in Srinagar jail and the truth behind his death was not allowed to come out in front of the country, said Yadav.
He further said that that PM Narendra Modi has fulfilled the dream of Dr Mookerjee by abrogating Article 370. He had launched movement anticipating the ‘Bang Bhang’ conspiracy of Britishers.
BJP State President VD Sharma said every party worker should resolve to follow the path shown by Mookerjee.
