Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): A whistleblower and ex-professor from Gwalior’s Jiwaji University carried out a ‘Dandwat Yatra’ to protest on Thursday against 20 alleged scams related to the university’s affiliation process, especially cases where multiple colleges are running from the same building.

A video of the protest was recorded, which is circulating widely on social media.

Check out the video below :

In the scorching heat of 43°C, Professor Sharma walked from the residence of Vice-Chancellor Dr. Rajkumar Acharya to the university’s administrative office, lying down and standing up repeatedly as part of his protest.

He carried with him a clay pot (“matka”) filled with documents related to the scams.

When university officials refused to let him submit the documents, Sharma broke the matka on campus and shaved his head (mundan) as a sign of anger and disappointment over continued corruption.

Sharma, who has been exposing scams through RTI, was earlier responsible for a major complaint that led to an EOW (Economic Offenses Wing) case against eight professors, including the former Vice-Chancellor, who was later removed by the Governor.

Now, Sharma says the corruption has not stopped. He highlighted that out of 416 affiliated colleges under Jiwaji University, only 14 have appointed principals. In Gwalior, 327 D.El.Ed colleges are registered, many operating from shared buildings. Similarly, 206 B.Ed colleges in the Gwalior-Chambal zone are reportedly running multiple courses from single campuses — a clear violation of norms.

As Sharma’s protest drew attention, the current Vice-Chancellor and Registrar were not seen in their offices.

Still, Sharma said he will continue to fight until proper investigations are conducted and action is taken.
