Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): It may sound weird but it is true that Madhya Pradesh BJP unit has conducted an opinion poll for the new president of Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee. And former cabinet minister and MLA from Rau in Indore Jitu Patwari has won the race in the survey.

The survey was conducted through microblogging site - Twitter. On its official Twitter page, the Madhya Pradesh BJP had posted survey on July 5. “Who is being appointed as MPPCC chief in place of Kamal Nath?” Madhya Pradesh BJP tweeted with three names of Congress leaders.

The three names included senior Congress leader and former cabinet minister Sajjan Singh Verma, former cabinet minister Jitu Patwari and former cabinet minister Jaivardhan Singh.

A total of 1,278 people have voted. The voting closed on Wednesday. Among three, Patwari got 60% vote share, while Jaivardhan Singh and Sajjan Singh Verma secured second and third position with 27% and 13% vote share respectively.

Madhya Pradesh BJP IT cell incharge Shivraj Singh Dabi said most voters were Congress workers. “It is very apparent that people want to replace Kamal Nath as state Congress president. It is also very evident that MP Congress is divided into many groups. We conducted a poll to know the opinion of Congress workers. And now, Kamal Nath should think as to what is actually going within his party,” Dabi told Free Press.

He further said that the poll result showed that people want a new PCC chief in place of Kamal Nath. “It is interesting that maximum voters are Congress workers,” he said.

When asked as to why BJP is worried about PCC chief, Dab said, “Our motive is to show Kamal Nath a real picture. We believe in a healthy democracy and we think a suitable and eligible candidate should lead the opposition,” he said.

In response to BJP, Congress worker Bhanu Pratap Singh Sikarwar is also conducting a survey as to who should be the next chief minister of Madhya Pradesh in place of Shivraj Singh Chouhan. A total of 1,345 people have voted, so far. Voting on Sikarwar’s post is still on.
