Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): Madhya Pradesh’s Sanskardhani, i.e. Jabalpur has started Holi celebrations with a tradition ritual called as ‘Fag Gayan’ or ‘Fag singing.’ This ritual is centuries-old and carried out with the same enthusiasm and devotion even today.
Fag singing starts about a week before Holi. During this time, people from rural areas gather in traditional attire and sing folk songs to the beats of dhol and manjiras (traditional musical instruments).
These songs, including Rahi and Matwari, welcome the arrival of Holi with joy and excitement.

The Fag group was also captured in a video, playing the traditional music and dancing along their beats. The men can be seen in colourful traditional attire, dancing their hearts out, being immersed in the folk music.

This event is not just about music; it brings people from all backgrounds together, strengthening social harmony and brotherhood. In Jabalpur, Fag groups dressed in colorful outfits move through temples, village squares, and streets, spreading festive cheer with their songs.
