Vyapam Scam: Trial To Begin For Fake Pre-Medical Test Candidates After 12 Years | File

Gwalior (Madhya Pradesh): The trial of  the infamous Vyapam scam case involving fake candidates who fraudulently passed the PMT (Pre-Medical Test) to gain admission into medical colleges, is set to begin after a delay of 12 years.

The hearing is scheduled for July 28 in the court of Special Judge Vishal Akhand in Gwalior. Charges will be officially framed during this session.

The case was originally registered in 2013 at Jhansi Road Police Station in Gwalior. In 2015, the investigation was handed over to the CBI.

Following a lengthy probe, the charge sheet was filed in 2020, and after five more years, the case has now been committed to the trial court.

According to the CBI charge sheet, 130 people were named as accused. However, 8 of them have died, leaving 122 accused to face trial. Among the key names is Amitesh Kumar, son of Congress MLA Fundelal Singh from Pushprajgarh constituency. Also accused are Dr. Swati Singh and several others, including residents from Uttar Pradesh.

The 8 deceased accused include: Premlal, Vishal Verma, Gaurav Gupta, Gabbar Singh, Kashiram Verma, Lalaram Jatav, Mohanlal, and Nardev.

This case is part of the larger Vyapam scam, one of India’s biggest admission and recruitment scandals involving fake candidates, middlemen, and high-profile figures.
