Chhatarpur (Madhya Pradesh): The body of a 19-year-old woman was found hanging in a home stay in Khajuraho on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Nisha Prajapati, a resident of Gunaur area. She had checked into the home stay on June 30 along with a man named Swami Vijay Prajapati, who is a resident of Ajaggarh area.

According to Mohan Rajak, the uncle of the hotel operator, both Nisha and Swami Vijay had booked the room by submitting their ID proofs. The two stayed together for three nights. However, on Thursday evening, Swami Vijay told the staff he was going out to get food, but never returned.

Later, the hotel staff discovered Nisha's body hanging in the room. Police were immediately informed and reached the spot for investigation. The body was sent for post-mortem, and further action is being taken.

The sudden disappearance of the man and the suspicious circumstances surrounding the death have raised serious concerns. Police have launched a search for Swami Vijay and are investigating the matter from all angles.

Swami Vijay’s elder brother, who lives in Banda, Uttar Pradesh, said that Nisha and Swami Vijay had known each other for a long time. He added that the two came to Khajuraho without informing their families. He also mentioned that Nisha used to call Swami Vijay frequently.

When the family asked about the caller, their mother said the calls were from the daughter of the man who had rented a room to Swami earlier. Since the incident, Swami Vijay has been missing. The police are searching for him.

When contacted, Khajuraho police station in-charge Surabhi Sharma said the case is now with newly appointed SDOP Manmohan Singh Baghel, who has not taken charge yet. Further investigation is ongoing.
