Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Upset over inaction by administrative officials in a land-related case pending for over three decades, a middle-aged woman threw ink on the face of a Naib Tehsildar posted at the Bairagarh Tehsil office on Thursday evening.

The ink also stained some official documents. The woman was taken into custody, and an FIR has been registered against her, police officials said.

Upasna Jauhri, a resident of Malviya Nagar area, reached office of Naib tehsildar Ratiram Ahirwar around 4 pm. The woman argued with Ahirwar over her longstanding case related to land. Following heated exchange of words, the woman took out a bottle of ink from her purse and splashed it on Ahirwar’s face. Some of the ink also fell on the official documents.

The incident triggered chaos in the office. Justifying her actions, the woman shouted, “faces of all of you should be blackened”.

Koh-e-Fiza police were called and they detained the woman.

Koh-e-Fiza police station in-charge Krishna Gopal Shukla stated that the woman aged around 50 years is a widow. She admitted that she had brought the ink with intention to of splashing it on the officials as she was upset over a land dispute case on which the court has issued a stay order. An FIR has been registered against her for disrupting government work and under relevant sections of BNS.

Nayab Tehsildar Ahirwar said the case pertains to land in Nishatpura area. Despite the high court stay prohibiting demolition of the existing structures on the land, the woman was adamant on getting possession of the land, said the official.

Case pending since 1989

The woman Upasna Jauhri claimed that case of the land she owns has been pending since 1989. She claimed that the court had ruled in her favour and so she had repeatedly pleaded with the officials to grant her the possession of the land. Despite raising the issue with the senior officials and even the Chief Minister, no action was taken.
