Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): A 19-year-old girl was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend for ignoring his calls in Jabalpur on Monday.
The incident is of Jabalpur's Devtai hill.
The accused has been identified as Abdul Samad, a resident of Jabalpur originally hails from Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh. Samad, angered by the vicitm ignoring his calls, allegedly slit her throat and stabbed her to death.
Originally a resident of Khajuraho in Chhatarpur district, Laxmi had come to Jabalpur with her family. She was working as a laborer in the renovation work of an ancient temple located in Devtal.
According to the reports, on Saturday, Laxmi headed towards Devtal hill for defecation purpose but didn't return for a long time. Upon long hours of searching her brother and sister-in-law found her blood-soaked body in the bushes, which had deep knife wounds on the neck and stomach.
The Gadha police station, along with Forensics teams and dog squad rushed to the spot for investigating the crime. The crime committed in broad day light without any eye witnesses made the initial investigation a bit complex, the police considered the case as a blind murder. However, cops got a new lead when they recovered Laxmi's mobile near the crime scene.
The call records in her mobile revealed that the girl's last conversation was with 19-year-old Abdul Samad, a resident of Prayagraj. Samad came to Jabalpur on Friday from Nagpur and had called Lakshmi several times. Once the call was received, Lakshmi called him to meet at 12 noon on Devtal hill.
It is believed that the couple argued over Laxmi allegedly talking to someone else on a phone Samad had bought for her. When the girl protested and attempted to flee, Samad pulled out a knife in anger and slit her throat, then stabbed her in the stomach till she died. Accused reportedly fled from the spot.
After committing the heinous crime, Samad hid in a hotel for two days and kept changing his location repeatedly. He planed an escape to Nagpur, but was nabbed by the police while he was waiting for a bus near Andhmuk bypass on Sunday night.
The Devtal hill area is already flagged as a hub of criminals and drug addicts. Many incidents have happened here in the past as well, but this fatal murder has sent shockwaves through the city. The police have registered a case of murder against the accused and initiated a further probe.
