Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): The Narmada Parikrama Path will be developed at Gwarighat, a centre of religious and spiritual faith on banks of Narmada in Jabalpur.

A power-point presentation was given on proposed project at a meeting attended by district collector and other officials. The development of Narmada Parikrama Path will be carried out in two phases.

The first phase will cover Jhilhari Ghat to Khari Ghat and second phase will cover Bhatauli Ghat to Tilwara Ghat.

Public amenities will be upgraded at Gwarighat and will have changing rooms. A 350-metre-long channel would be constructed for bathing and worshipping by pilgrims.

Pressure pipes will be installed at various points in the channel to prevent pollution in Narmada and ensure availability of clean water.

Painting murals on walls depicting lectures of Adi Shankaracharya and message of Markandeya Rishi's Parikrama was also discussed. It was decided to construct a platform for cultural activities to hold Maa Narmada Pragatutsav and other programmes.

Additionally, arrangements will be made for accommodation of artists participating in these events.

A comprehensive arrangement for vehicle parking, sufficient Bhandara (community feast) sites, ramps for convenience of the differently-abled, watchtowers, and a sound system for announcements are among the works to be taken up during development of the Narmada Parikrama Path.
