Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): A middle aged woman was killed by a tiger in a village situated close to the core area of Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve on Friday morning. After killing the woman, Tiger went inside the jungle.

A Forest range of Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve told the Free Press that Tiger was lurking to attack cattle near Rakhi village which is close to the core area of the reserve.

In the meantime, a woman named Ganni Yadav, wife of Kashi Yadav, went into the jungle to attend the nature call. This is when the Tiger saw her, attacked her and killed her. After the incident, the tiger went inside the core area.

According to sources, the incident occurred at around 5.30 am on Friday. The area where the incident happened is often frequented by the tigers.

Notably, Bandhavgarh is having an overflowing population of Tigers and these big cats often prey on the villagers. To contain the tiger attack incidents, forest officers are trying to sensitize nearby residents regarding the safety measures.

They have alerted the people that they shall not go inside jungles alone to collect forest produce and not try to graze cattle in areas close to the Tiger reserve. The efforts of Forest officials are proving insufficient as the Tigers attack the villagers living close to the core area, frequently.

After every incident, forest officials have to face the wrath of angry villagers. The man-animal conflict is highest in Bandhavgarh.

It is rather the young Tigers which roam in the outer periphery of tiger reserve to create their own territory to avoid the clash with adult tigers which have already created their territory inside the core area.

Forest department gives ₹8 lakh to the next kin of person killed by tiger.
