Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): The Bhopal division of Indian Railways has started work on a fourth railway line between Itarsi, Bhopal, and Bina to make train movement smoother, faster, and more efficient.
The project aims to increase capacity for both passenger and goods trains and is expected to boost regional development and create job opportunities.

Currently, there are three railway lines on this route, but they are under heavy pressure due to high traffic. This causes delays and slows down train speed. Railway officials say that the new fourth line will reduce this pressure, allowing both goods and passenger trains to run more smoothly and on time.
The survey work for the fourth rail line from Itarsi to Bhopal and then from Bhopal to Bina has already started.
Once the survey is completed, the required land acquisition will begin as per rules. Local landowners will be given proper compensation with the help of the district administration.
Route to pass through...
The new line will pass through several important districts of Madhya Pradesh including Narmadapuram, Raisen, Sehore, Bhopal, Vidisha, and Sagar.
With the railway network expanding in these districts, travel will become easier, and industrial activities will also grow.
The project is expected to reduce travel time and cut costs for goods transport. It will also create local employment opportunities in construction, maintenance, and operations.
In addition, it will lead to the development of infrastructure such as goods sheds and logistics hubs, giving a boost to the region’s economy.
This fourth railway line is a major step towards improving train services and supporting overall development in central Madhya Pradesh.
