Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): On the first day of his visit to Spain, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav met officials and technical experts at the LaLiga headquarters in Madrid on Wednesday.
During the meeting, he proposed establishing a Centre of Football Excellence in Madhya Pradesh through a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model.
He suggested collaboration in three key areas — football excellence centres, sports infrastructure development and Spanish-coaching-based youth training programmes. He said that LaLiga’s football expertise should benefit the youth of Madhya Pradesh.
Yadav also proposed that during LaLiga matches, Madhya Pradesh’s cultural richness, wildlife, heritage and tourism could be promoted through a digital and ground-level co-branding campaign, especially targeting spectators in Spain and across Europe.
“This partnership will not be limited to football. It has the potential to open new avenues in employment, social engagement, international branding and cultural tourism,” the CM told reporters.
He said that this initiative could boost foreign investment in sports tourism, fitness, media broadcasting, and related sectors. CM Yadav also extended an invitation to LaLiga officials to invest directly in Madhya Pradesh.
After the meeting, Yadav said the goal is to expand the state's achievements beyond tourism and industry into the sports sector, learning from Spain’s expertise. He referred to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent remark calling Shahdol the Football Capital, highlighting the state's growing enthusiasm for the sport.
CM Yadav arrived in Madrid on Tuesday night, after completing a three-day official tour of Dubai.
