Jabalpur (Madhya Pradesh): An employee of the State Forest Research Institute (SFRI) has been accused of raping a widow in Jabalpur.
The accused has been identified as 48-years-old Neeraj Jain.
He reportedly met a widow woman at a local gym. The accused befriended her, borrowed Rs 1 lakh from her on pretext of returing soon and sexually exploited her.
The incident was reported from the Gaurighat police station area.
According to the information, the victim met the accused at a gym in Jabalpur. They became friends over time and started to meet regularly. After becoming good friends and gaining her trust, the accused allegedly borrowed ₹1 lakh from the woman and promised her to return it soon.
Few days ago, the accused called the woman at his house on the pretext of returning her money, but when she reached his house, he allegedly forced himself on her.
After the incident, the woman approached Gaurighat police and lodged a complaint against the accused. Police has registered a case and started investigating the matter. Police officials say medical procedures are being followed, and teams are trying to track down the accused, who is believed to be on the run.
This incident has once again sparked concern in the city, where rising cases involving betrayal of personal trust are leaving people shaken.
