Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh): Years after 150 medical students were accommodated in various government colleges after their private medical colleges were derecognised, many of them are facing problems retrieving their documents from the college where they were relocated.
Back in 2016-17, Bhopal-based RKDF Medical College Hospital and Research Centre and Advanced Institute of Medical Science and Research Centre failed to meet the Medical Council of India criteria for medical education.
Seeking relief, students of these colleges approached the Supreme Court, which then directed the Directorate of Medical Education (DME) to accommodate 150 MBBS students into government medical colleges.
Despite initially expressing its inability to comply with the SC order, the DME had accommodated these students in other colleges. It is many of these students who are now claiming that their documents aren’t available at the colleges they were sent to.
Junior Doctors Association (JUDA) President Dr Kuldeep Gupta said, “In some medical colleges, students are facing difficulties. But the government medical colleges’ administration is looking into the matter.
If they are demanding their documents, they should be given those. It is a lapse on the part of the college administration, as during the process of relocation, students must have submitted their documents, which the college must have verified.”
Director Medical Education Dr A.K. Shrivastava said, “It is the responsibility of the concerned medical colleges where these students were relocated on the directives of the Supreme Court. The DME has come to know about documents being missing from some of these colleges, and it is a serious matter. The DME will look into it.”
